How To Change Spark Plugs

Spark plug is the small apparatus used to ignite the petrol vapor. After constant use, spark plug wears out and need replacement. It is very easy to change spark plug if you follow these steps. However, you need some tools like, Socket ranch, spark plug wire puller, socket ranch swivel joint, spark plug socket and socket ranch extension. Apart from these you also need a rag for cleaning and some alcohol, spirit or petrol. Of course, you need fresh spark plugs and if you are totally new then keep ready user's manual.

Step 1: Don't start immediately. Let your car cool off. Depending upon how much you have traveled, your car will take 15 min to several hours to cool down. When your car is running, there are some parts that are heated very fast. Spark plug is one of the parts that get heated very fast. So, if you don't want to burn your fingers then let your car to cool sufficiently.

Step 2: Once your car cools off sufficiently, open the hood and look for the spark plugs. If you are new, then refer the User's manual and locate the spark plug in your car.

Step 3: Don't remove all but start with only one plug wire. Don't try to catch the wire and pull it strongly, instead use the spark plug wire puller to remove the spark plug wire.

Step 4: Now take the socket ranch and add the spark plug socket to it. If your spark plug is situated at some odd position then you have to use socket wrench extension or if it is not available then you can use simple swivel joint.

Step 5: Unscrew the spark plug by rotating the ranch counterclockwise. Once the spark plug is unscrewed completely remove it by using rag, since spark plug may be hot.

Step 6: After removing the spark plug, clean the spark plug hole with clean rag or if the hole is very dirty then use some petrol, spirit or alcohol and clean the side of the holes thoroughly.

Step 7: Take up the new spark plug and screw it inside the hole with the help of your fingers. Now use the socket wrench to tighten the spark plug. It is very important that spark plug should not be loose.

Step 8: now connect the spark plug wire to the newly secured spark plug.

Step 9: Repeat the steps with all other spark plugs.
